Vijay Singh to judge the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Sergio Garcia finishes on the fifth place

Leading golfer Vijay Singh returns to make another appearance and judge at the Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament, included in the PGA circuit and now with prize money totalling $5.5 million. The Fijian golfer was in the Bay Hill Club for the 30th title win in his career and the second in this season, making him the leading player to achieve two titles in the US circuit this year.

Singh, who did not begin the tournament particularly brilliantly and did not pass the par in the first round, built a series of gradually increasing advantages thanks to his steady playing and the misfortune of his direct rivals, including the American player and world number one, Tiger Woods. Vijay Singh completed his performance in the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a total of 272 shots, eight below par, two less than the second classified, American Rocco Mediate. Seven birdies, five of those in the first half of the round, gave him a sufficient margin to achieve the final victory.

Sergio García finally achieved the fifth placing with a total of 277 shots, three below par, thanks to a good game spread out over the two primary shots , which then in the third and the fourth finalized on the par, in both cases with 71 shots. Three birdies, two bogeys and, as happened the day before, one double bogey, this time in the 18, prevented the Spanish golfer from raising his position in the general classification.

Tiger Woods fared poorly in the tournament. In the fourth round he hit bottom to achieve 76 shots, six on par, to complete a total of 283. Three double bogeys (11, 17 and 18), a score unusual for him, putting him far behind the lead.
