Sergio García regained the position he had lost the previous week in the world golf classifications, which had left him in thirteenth position, while Vijay Singh rose two places to seventh and the American Tiger Woods continued as leader.

García had a chance for triumph in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, played in Orlando, but ultimately he achieved fifth placing, while Singh scored his second title of the season and increased his global position.

José María Olazábal, who did not finísh in Orlando, dropped three places and is now in 25th position, while Miguel Angel Jiménez dropped four and is now in 64th position.
